Orlando Pirates head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou has praised Kabelo Dlamini’s attitude as the midfielder continues his recovery from a lengthy injury lay-off.

Dlamini, 30, has returned to full training after being sidelined since November 2025, with the Buccaneers now hoping to have one of their most creative players available again.

The playmaker has made 187 appearances for Pirates, contributing 21 goals and 23 assists during his time at the club and will now have major importance after the exits of Relebohile Mofokeng and Patrick Maswanganyi.

“Dlamini is doing a great effort every day to come back and to be available for the team, I appreciate the spirit he is showing in training every day,” Ouaddou said when asked by iDiski Times about the talented midfielder.

“He’s important, so much creativity, can find passes not everyone can find in small spaces, quick decision-making, and in this area of the game we need players who can take decisions before receiving the ball.

“I don’t want to compare him to Zinedine Zidane, not a quick player, but he knew what he wanted before receiving the ball.”

Dlamini’s return could provide Ouaddou with another creative option as Pirates balance their domestic ambitions with their CAF Champions League campaign – but likely won’t feature against La Cure Waves on Saturday.
