After Kaizer Chiefs announced the signing of Colombian striker Efmamjjasond González Palacios, many fans were left wondering what his incredible name means and here is the explanation behind it.
Earlier on Thursday, Chiefs announced the signing of the striker, “simply known as Jasond González” but his name has left many fans and neutrals stunned.
But the reason has previously explained by Spanish publication Marca, with Efmamjjasond being put together based on the first letters of each month of the year in Spanish.
Enero, Febrero, Marzo, Abril, Mayo, Junio, Julio, Agosto, Septiembre, Octubre, Noviembre and Diciembre comes together to Efmamjjasond, even though the player prefers to go by the more pronounceable Jasond (pronounced more like Hasond for English speakers).
The Colombian striker agreed to join Chiefs on loan, early last week, with an option to purchase at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Having scored eight goals in his first 11 games for Real Santa Cruz, there’s real optimism that the towering striker can help remedy Chiefs’ goalscoring concerns this season.
But his arrival is delayed by some Visa issues, with his home country Cololmbia not having a South African embassy and his application needing to be sent to neighbouring Venezuela, as reported by iDiski Times.
This publication, though, has learnt that González’ is likely only to be given the go-ahead by the end of this week before making the trip to complete his move to Amakhosi.
