SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt was disappointed that his side couldn’t close in on second position on the DStv Premiership log yet again following the 1-1 draw against AmaZulu in Polokwane on Saturday afternoon.
Matsatsantsa came from a goal down to salvage a point at the Peter Mokaba stadium a result that left them in fourth position equal on 32 points with Stellenbosch FC ahead in third spot and a point behind second placed Orlando Pirates who were triumphant over Kaizer Chiefs in Soweto.
This is also a third successive draw and by the same score-line in the league for SuperSport. Hunt believes his side should have won the match comfortably bemoaning the fact that for another week they dropped points which would have opened a bit of a gap with fellow second place contenders.
“Well, we have been missing second position for the last four games,” said Hunt after the match.
“And we should be six, seven points clear in second position. We are missing it because we draw, draw, draw so what can we do. But you know with the squad we’ve got and the youngsters we’ve got we are doing okay but it is what it is”
Hunt also praised midfielder Lyle Lakay scored the equaliser late in the game cancelling Victor Letsoalo’s first half goal. It is the second league match in row that Lakay has scored a goal that saved Matsatsantsa’s blushes. Hunt says players like Lakay who can play in different positions are needed.
“Lyle, we need those type of players that play in three positions in four positions and he plays in four positions for us. So we need players like that because you know for obvious reasons. So yeah he has done well for us. He’s been a good addition to us, a good pro and a good example around the players. May long it continue.”
