Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. says any head coach of the club has the same mandate, which is to win trophies and qualify for CAF inter-club competitions, while integrating young players.
It’s been an active off-season at Naturena Village with seven new signings bolstering their squad, while several exits were made too, which include long-serving Eric Mathoho and star forward Khama Billiat – but also a new head coach in the form of Molefi Ntseki.
The latter was brought in to lead their charges after previously holding a role as Head of Technical with a key focus on their youth development, which has seemingly been thriving in recent years since his arrival in 2021.
“The mandate, if you are a head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, it’s always very clear, win trophies, win league titles, it’s to be on the continent and you know we have objectives of integrating youth, we have objectives of mixing experience and youth,” he said when asked about the expectations this season.
“We have certain objectives from our side we want to meet, and of course being head coach of Kaizer Chiefs, it’s very clear, you’re here to win, build something at the same time, but you’re here to win.
“It’s very clear, we know where we want to be, back on the continent, play continental football, so you can’t be a head coach of Kaizer Chiefs and not have the clearly.”
Kaizer Jr. also pleaded with the club’s fans to show their love and support for the players and the technical team in the new season.
“The call stays the same, we’re asking our supporters to get behind the team,” he added.
“Come to stadiums, fill the stadiums, give the players, the technical staff and the institution as a whole all their support, all their love and all their energy.
“Personally, we’re very excited for the season to start. We’ve assembled a fairly strong group. We’re just looking forward to having the coach to getting the best out of the players.
“When football begins in August, big parties are going to come out on the field and we ask them to come out and support, and give us all the love, peace and energy they can for the team to succeed.”
Chiefs kickstart their new season against Chippa United next week at the Moses Mabhida Stadium (15h00).
