Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro avoided explaining the altercation with Jwaneng Galaxy head coach Morena Ramoreboli, saying they are fully focused on Mamelodi Sundowns.
The pair appeared to have a heated moment after the full-time whistle after the Botswana Premier League champions secured a 1-0 first leg victory.
With the two sides set to battle in two weeks’ time in Orlando for the second leg which will determine who advances to the group stage, Riveiro wasn’t willing to entertain the incident and stated they were focusing on their league clash against the champions.
“Look, our mind and focus is on the Sundowns game, it’s the reason we are here [at this press conference], to share some thoughts about what’s going to happen on Wednesday, what happened yesterday… will stay there forever,” Riveiro said.
“Things happened during the game, emotions are always in play. And we will meet again in two weeks. So our focus is on the next game, it’s a good challenge for us, we’ll face an excellent team, very well coached with an extraordinary record.
“All of those things together is a huge motivation for us because we’re working every day in order to find greatness – and Wednesday is an opportunity to collect three important points in the end – it’s only three points.
“We’ve only played for games in the league, we are lacking some points. And it’s a game in Orlando, in front of our people and yeah, we’re really looking forward to that kick off.”
Pirates who finished as runners-up last season host the reigning champions at Orlando Stadium on Wednesday at 19h30.
