Morena’s Galaxy Stun Wydad In Morocco

Jwaneng Galaxy pulled off a historic 1-0 win over Wydad Atheltic Club in Morocco to open up their CAF Champions League group stage campaign.

Despite knocking out Vipers and Orlando Pirates en route to the group stages, Jwaneng has been touted to be the whipping boys between WAC, Simba and ASEC Mimosas.

With far less pedigree, history and experience, Morena Ramoreboli and his troops continue to defy the odds with their latest scalp that of the Botola Pro giants.

Thabang Sesinyi netted the game’s only goal just after the half-hour mark, one of only two shots on target with 20% possession.

But they managed to overcome the onslaught that followed as Phoko Goitseone made eight saves to secure a massive three points and move them top of Group B.

Simba and ASEC drew 1-1 earlier on Saturday, opening the perfect star for the Botswana Premier League champions.

Saturday CAF Champions League results:

  • Simba 1-1 ASEC Mimosas
  • Petro de Luanda 1-0 Al Hilal
  • Esperance 2-0 Etoile du Sahel
  • Al Ahly 3-0 Medeama
  • Wydad 0-1 Jwaneng Galaxy
