Mamelodi Sundowns’ CAF Champions League opponents Young Africans have announced free entry for their quarter-final home match against Masandawana.
The Brazilians will face Yanga at the Benjamin Mpaka Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Saturday evening at 20:00.
Ahead of the match, Yanga announced free entry for the clash against the DStv Premiership champions, hoping for a full capactiy in the 60,000-seater.
“The Yanga leadership is not driven by greed. While some might see this as a money-making opportunity with high ticket prices, we believe in a different approach,” Communication Manager, Ally Kamwev told The Guardian.
“Under president Hersi Said’s leadership, we’ve designated this match as free entry for all fans.
“The value of witnessing Yanga take on Mamelodi Sundowns far outweighs any ticket revenue.
“The money you would’ve spent on a ticket can now be used for transportation to and from the stadium, ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
“A packed stadium fuels the players’ passion. Therefore, the club has chosen to prioritize victory over financial gain. We want as many fans as possible to come and cheer on Yanga.”
Yanga, who are coached by former Sundowns coach Miguel Gamondi, qualified in second place from Group D, finishing on eight points behind Al Ahly.
They did pick up seven of their eight points at home, beating Belouizdad 4-0, Medeama 3-0 and collecting a 1-1 draw with Al Ahly.
