The 2023/24 Carling Knockout Cup prize money pool stands at a total of R20.2 million.
The relaunch of the league cup, which was previously the Telkom Knockout Cup, took place on Tuesday in an extravagant launch in Hyde Park Sandton.
While the Premier Soccer League and sponsors Carling were tight-lipped over the prize money, iDiski Times has been informed it stands at around just over R20-million.
Each of the 16 teams will be granted a participation fee of around R250,000, with R300,000 guaranteed for being in the last-16.
All quarter-finalists will secure R600,000, semi-finalists, R1.1-million, losing finalist R2.6-million while the winner of the tournament will bag R6.6-million.
It provides a welcome incentive for the 16 top-flight clubs to fight for the title, with the champions set to compete for the Carling Cup too.
There’s already been incredible excitement drawn around the Man of the Match Prize Money which stands at R100,000 per game, with fans responsible for the voting.
