Huge Update On Kekana’s Future At Sundowns

Mamelodi Sundowns are “in talks” with defender Grant Kekana as they look to extend his stay at Chloorkop.

Kekana, 31, joined Sundowns at the beginning of the 2021/22 season from city rivals SuperSport United, and even though his current contract only runs out in 2026, iDiski Times understands that the club is keen on keeping him for a longer period.

The Limpopo-born centre-back has also been an integral part of Bafana Bafana, and helped the side to reach the semi-finals of the 2023 African Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast earlier this year.

Kekana has been nominated for the DStv Premiership Defender of the Season award after putting in a great shift for Sundowns. This past campaign, Kekana featured in 37 matches across all competitions, scoring four goals as Rulani Mokwena’s side recorded an unprecedented seventh consecutive league crown.

Information received by this publication states that Masandawana are looking to trigger the one-year option in his contract, which will see him staying at the club beyond June 2026.

The league champions have already extended the stay of goalkeeper Ronwen Williams, and are reportedly also looking to do the same for industrious midfielder Teboho Mokoena.
