The South African Breweries (AbInBev) Marketing Vice President Vaughan Croeser has opened up on the sponsorship of the FIFA Club World Cup and what their alignment with Mamelodi Sundowns pertains.
On Tuesday it was announced by Carling Black Label they will be one of the sponsors of the global event set to take place in June in the United States of America – where Mamelodi Sundowns will represent South Africa.
The club and brand have now aligned for the tournament, with CBL set to be part of the journey, showcasing the champions and bringing them closer to the fans.
“We’re excited about the sponsorship of the FIFA Club World Cup, we believe in building mega brands with mega platforms and the FIFA Club World Cup will be such a moment where fans across the world can come together and enjoy a great football spectacle,” Croeser said.
“So, we’re very excited about this. We have a long history in sports sponsorship here in South Africa with Carling Black Label, starting with our days in Soweto Derbies, then the Carling Knockout, now this evolution into the FIFA Club World Cup.
“So, it was just natural for us to back Sundowns, who will be representing South Africa at this very prestigious event, so it felt natural for us to partner with them for this moment of the FIFA Club World Cup.”
Croeser said it’s all about being more engaged with the fans and several ‘unique’ opportunities will be on offer in the coming weeks.
“Since [Sundowns] will be representing South Africa on this very unique stage, we are creating unique fan experiences, that people can experience with the team and we’ll be working with our score predictor,” he explained.
“Fans will be able to engaged throughout the tournament and we want to create very unique moments for fans to watch the games, live, we’ll be creating these moments for the fans.”
