‘Embarrassed’ Zwane Explains Why He’s The Right Man For Chiefs Job

Kaizer Chiefs interim coach Arthur Zwane has insisted the club needs to stop looking for instant success and coaches from the outside, explaining why he would be the right man for the permanent job.

10111, as he’s affectionally known from his playing days with Amakhosi, has lost his first three games in charge after taking over from Stuart Baxter.

Zwane has insisted that he feels embarrassed by the situation the club finds itself in, but he would take the reigns permanently, if given the chance.

“When you look at the way we’ve been performing, myself growing up in the club, coming through the ranks until up to now, obviously when you get the situation now we cannot be proud of the situation now that we find ourselves in,” he told reporters.

“It’s very, very embarrassing, we can’t even walk on the streets freely because of the situation we find ourselves in.

“But we have to soldier on, we don’t have a choice. We are the chosen ones to face this challenge. We don’t want to back off, we take it head on until we get things right.

“When you look at all the players that we have, they are good players, but some of them might not be good enough to play for Kaizer Chiefs.

“Yes, if the opportunity comes then why not. In the end of the day, we all want to grow as coaches  and what’s the point of being with the team for many, many years and yet when I’m giving the responsibility, I’ll shy why away? Who else should take this responsibility?”

Zwane also insisted Chiefs need to stop looking for instant success and a coach from the outside, while the foundation for success for needs to be taken care off and the club needs to rebuild.

“Because the situation that we’re in right now, it shouldn’t be a situation of hit the ground running. We’ve done that for many, many years as a club, all about this word – ‘let’s hit the ground running’, ‘let’s hit the ground running’. It’s not gonna work,” he added.

“We have to rebuild, we have to start off fresh. We have to bring in the right people in terms of technical personal, in terms of playing personal, there is so much that we need to work on right now and the sooner the better we do that as a club, then things will be back to normal.

“If do this thing again ‘let’s look for someone and let’s hit the ground running’, there is still going to be having challenges, we gonna bring in new players, does he know the setup, the environment and pressure it comes with the responsibility of playing for this club.

“And also the very same person that comes in, does he know the nitty and gritty and so many other things, because Kaizer Chiefs is a beast, it’s not like any other club, it needs someone that knows it very well as I said, if the opportunity is granted, I’ll grab it with both hands and make sure that we bring the glory back.”
