Pirates Announce Starting XI For CAFCL Second Place Chase

Orlando Pirates and SuperSport United have announced their starting lineups for this afternoon’s DStv Premiership clash at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.

After back-to-back defeats against Richards Bay and TS Galaxy, Pirates aim to bounce back and possibly end the season in the CAF Champions League spot, depending on the result between Stellenbosch FC and the Natal Rich Boyz.

Bucs missed two glorious opportunities to take control of position two when Stellies dropped points against Moroka Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns. Jose Riveiro and his lads lost 3-1 to Matsatsantsa in December and for them to qualify for the CAFCL, they’ll need to avoid defeat this afternoon.

Matsatsantsa is enjoying their good run of four matches without a defeat after going six games without a win. United could see themselves qualifying for the CAF Confederation Cup depending on the result between Galaxy and Polokwane City.

Should the Buccaneers come away with three points, it would give list their morale and give them a huge boost for the Nedbank Cup final against Sundowns at Mbombela Stadium on June 1.

Gavin Hunt and his troops don’t have a good record at Orlando Stadium having last won there in 2014.

Here is how their squads line up:

Pirates XI: Chaine, Ndah, Sesane, Hotto, Monyane, Mbatha, Makhaula, Maswanganyi, Saleng, Mofokeng, Mabasa

Subs: Buthelezi, Maela, Baloni, Dlamini, Ndlondlo, Kapinga, Pule, Otladisa, Makgopa

SSU XI: Goss, Magidigidi, Baloyi, Bhasera, Hlatshwayo, Ndlovu, Lakay, Margeman, Lungu, Campbell, Dzvukamanja

Subs: Arubi, Xulu, Baliti, Moralo, Okon, Ighodaro, Rasebotja, Grobler, Matodzi
