Rulani Opens Up On Zungu Rumours

Former Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Rulani Mokwena has responded to rumours linking him with a potential reunion with Bongani Zungu at Wydad Athletic Club.

The South African tactician joined the Moroccan giants shortly after he was let go by Masandawana, with the task to awaken the sleeping giant after Wydad finished in fifth place last season.

Mokwena now has the task to build a new team after several of their key players being lost in recent seasons, including captain Yahya Jabrane leaving for Kuwait SC this month.

One name who has been linked with a move to Casablanca is Zungu, who has become a free agent after he was released by Masandawana, and Mokwena didn’t want to rule out a potential reunion.

“I love Bongs,” he told Thabiso Mosia on Radio 2000.

“Bongs know me, I know him. It’s easier when you know the coach, the player knows you.

“There is a possibility. It’s not to say that the door is open, the door is closed.

“He knows, if he doesn’t find anything, he knows my number and he can always contact me.

“He’s someone that is very special to me.”
