Ayew Reacts To Penalty Call Over Bafana

Ghana national team captain Andre Ayew has said that the penalty given to his side was clear and correct.

Black Stars Daniel Amartey was seemingly brought down by Rushine De Rueck before half-time and the referee pointed to the penalty spot.

The Al-Sadd playmaker has also insisted that they should have awarded more than one penalty during the game.

The West Africans beat Bafana Bafana 1-0 at Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday to book their spot in the FIFA World Cup Qualifier play-offs.

“It was a clear penalty,” Ayew has confidently said in the post-match press conference. “In fact, we had chances to get more penalties and should have been given two more.

“I think we had more clear chances. Yes, it was a tough game, but we won this game fair and square. We could have scored more.”

Ayew made his 100th appearance for his nation at the Cape Coast Stadium with the controversial penalty being his 22nd strike since his senior debut back in 2007.
