Baxter On CAFCL Semi-Final
Stuart Baxter has revealed how he wants to approach the CAF Champions League semi-final against Wydad Casablanca, which will be his first game in charge.
The Englishman was announced as new Amakhosi coach on Wednesday, returning to the club for a second time after lifting four trophies between 2012 and 2015.
Baxter’s first official game in charge will be the club’s CAF Champions League semi-final first leg at Wydad Casablanca on 19 June before hosting the Moroccan giants in South Africa seven days later.
“Yeah, I mean, again, there’s a challenge for me there, in as much as I’ve got to try to identify a couple of things maybe tactically, for these games, that will impact big on the games,” he told the Chiefs’ media department.
“It’s a strong opponent, but we have shown in the home game that we can match them.
“We have to improve on our first leg, and maybe tactically, maybe a little bit mentally, we’ve got to try and grind out a result there that allows us the opportunity to bring them back here and have a real go out them.
“So it’s going to be a challenge in the build up. But I’m hoping that if we do it properly, that these two games and hopefully the final, I’m hoping that will that will serve as good preparations moving in and a springboard into the season.”
