Pitso Reveals Komphela Advise
Pitso Mosimane has revealed which advice Steve Komphela once gave him when discussing which league in Europe he would like to coach in.
The South African coach who wrote history with Al Ahly after becoming the first coach from the continent to win the CAF Champions League three times, has discussed the idea of going overseas.
However, Mosimane says that he is happy where he is right now and revealed some words of advice he received from Steve Komphela.
“Well you can’t choose. The best league in Europe is English Premier League because it is well marketed and well resourced,” he said in an interview with Thabiso Mosia on SAFM.
“The best football playing place is LaLiga and you know that Bundesliga also now with Bayern (Munich), Dortmund and Leipzig, there are a lot of intelligent coaches coming out of Germany.
“Hansi Flick, what a nice guy, top personality. People who will sit with you and say ‘Pitso let’s have tea’ and you ask yourself who are you to sit with Hansi Flick. Pep Guardiola spent a day with me and who am I?
“There are a lot of top coaches in the world, who are very good. Look at Thomas Tuchel who got a chance to be where he is because he came from Dortmund. Jurgen Klopp, he came from Mainz to Dortmund. So Bundesliga is also very good.
“(Carlo) Ancelotti, who came from Serie A is top.
“So anywhere you’d be given an opportunity, you’ve been given, you must take. But I’m not worried about going there. I’m contempt with what I have.
“Steve Komphela used to say ‘don’t envy the neighbours, be happy with what you have because God gave you that.”
