Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Themba Zwane has made a bold claim that they don’t fear Borussia Dortmund as momentum for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup continues to gain traction.
The Brazilians have already jetted off to the United States for the month-long tournament which gets underway on Sunday, 15 June, with Egyptian giants Al Ahly taking on Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami.
Masandawana have been pitted against Dortmund, Brazilian side Fluminense and Ulsan Hyundai in Group F and ‘Mshishi’ reckons that they will give a good account of themselves against the Germans.
“Obviously, firstly, we are going to watch them – but we have been watching them and we know that they are a good team,” he said.
“We know that they have good players and we respect them, but we don’t fear them.
“And, yeah, we are going to go there and play our football – try to win the game and match them in terms of the quality and the pace of the game.”
Sundowns open their CWC account with a tricky tie against Ulsan HD at the Inter&Co Stadium in Orlando on matchday 11.
The match will kick off at midnight (00:00) on Wednesday, 18 June.
