Mozambique Coach Defends Dove After Costly Error

Mozambique senior national team coach Francisco Conde has defended defender Edmilson Dove following his costly mistake in the international friendly against Bafana Bafana on Tuesday.

The Kaizer Chiefs man was careless in trying to clear a ball in his own half but was dispossessed by Mohau Nkota who then set-up Ashley Cupido’s winner in the 2-0 defeat to South Africa at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.

Conde said the 30-year-old former Cape Town City player made a normal mistake and was sad about it himself especially because he plies his trade in the PSL with the coach remaining confident that Dove will be better in the next games.

“It was a mistake that Dove made and he is not happy while he was playing here in South Africa,” said Chiquinho when asked by iDiski Times about Dove’s performance.

“So, he is sad because of that but it was an error it’s normal. Dove has been out for a long time with injury now he is coming but he is a very good player.

“He’s very important for us, for my team for selection because it’s natural mistakes sometimes because there’s emotions sometimes, he’s tired.

“But I think the next game maybe I want to change to improve the situation, change the mind-set.”
