Kaizer Chiefs have launched a new partnership with Correctional Services and FIFA Foundation for Empowerment of Female Inmates.
The Department of Correctional Services (DCS) in partnership with Kaizer Chiefs and FIFA Foundation have launched a “Twinning Project” with special focus to female inmates at Johannesburg Correctional Centre on Wednesday.
It is a partnership aimed at the empowerment and rehabilitation of female inmates through sports and life skills development.
The Twinning Project, an innovative programme that utilises the power of sports to foster social change, aims to provide female inmates with the tools needed for successful reintegration into society.
This initiative is attuned towards the mandate of Correctional Services where rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders is emphasised.
“Football has the ability to break down barriers and bring people together, and we’re honoured to be part of this journey,” Marketing and Commercial Director, Jessica Motaung, said.
“Empowering female inmates with football skills presents an opportunity for growth by helping them unlock their full potential and hopefully assist their reintegration into society as confident, productive individuals.”
Kaizer Chiefs coaches, Arthur Zwane, Dillon Shepherd, and Aubrey Mathibe, will conduct workshops where they will use their expertise to train the inmates with a view to equipping them with some skills that can be of benefit long in the future.
“We’re thankful to have coaches who are not only well-skilled in the game but are also passionate about making a difference in their community,” Motaung added.
