Kaizer Chiefs target Cole Alexander has left Indian side Odisha FC by mutual consent with local reports stating he will join Kaizer Chiefs.
The 32-year-old joined Odisha from Bidvest in October 2020 and still had one more year left on his contract.
However, Odisha have now confirmed that the club and the central midfielder agreed to a mutual termination of his contract.
“Odisha FC and Cole Alexander have decided to mutually part ways. Both parties reached an agreement over an undisclosed release fee, enabling Cole and the Club to trigger a mutual termination of the contract,” the club said in a statement on Friday evening.
Alexander has been linked with a move to Amakhosi, with Soccer Laduma reporting he will be unveiled by the club in the coming days.
The player has sent a farewell message to his previous club after making 15 appearances for the Indian side.
“I want to thank everyone at Odisha FC for the opportunity,” he stated.
“Thanks to all my teammates, it was a privilege to be with the side and play with you guys. It was a joy being in India experiencing different cultures.
“This was a difficult decision to make but this is for my family so that I can be with them.”
