Bad News For ‘Fantastic’ Leshabela
Luton Town coach Nathan Jones has explained why his club couldn’t secure the signing of “fantastic” South African youngster Khanya Leshabela.
The Championship side had the Leicester City U23 player on trial over the last few weeks but opted against signing him.
The 21-year-old impressed the coaching staff during training and friendlies, but Jones, who preferred to sign the player on a permanent basis rather than a loan, has explained that a move was financially not possible for his side.
“He’s not with us now, he’s gone back to Leicester as we weren’t able to reach a deal,” he told Luton Today.
“We really liked him to be fair, it’s just finances involved to be honest with you.
“We couldn’t do it with what we’ve done and spent, it became something that we didn’t pursue after that.
“But he was a fantastic lad, really loved it here, did really well I felt in pre-season.
“It’s just I don’t think that’s something we’re going to pursue.”
Leshabela has returned to Leicester and will hope to secure another move before the window closes by the end of the month.
