Ahead of their match today against SuperSport United, Stellenbosch Head Coach Steve Barker says they are targeting winning more games at home.
Stellies are currently 9th on the table, while their opponents are 13 points ahead in fourth place on the DStv Premiership table.
Barker was pleased with his team’s recent form, having beaten Cape Town City and Baroka, before their narrow loss to Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend.
He says the team are itching to get back on the pitch and build on their progress.
“Yes. Looking forward to getting back on the park again after last week playing the three matches in the week had a bit of a break,” Barker told the club’s media department.
“But yes, SuperSport not an easy opponent, some really good talented players in their squad. And so we have to be really up for the task to get a positive result which we are aiming to do.”
“And just looking at our previous three performances, I think there’s been real progress over the last couple of weeks, with the team playing with more confidence, a lot more structure.”
“And so we’re hoping to carry that forth into the SuperSport match, so very confident of us putting on a big performance.”
“We want to be winning more games at home than we have been.”
“So for me, it’s a massive, important fixture for us to get back to winning ways here at Danie Craven.”
