Baxter On Billiat & Parker Injuries

Kaizer Chiefs coach Stuart Baxter has given an update on the injuries of Khama Billiat and Bernard Parker after both had to be substituted against SuperSport United.

Amakhosi secured an important three points after a 2-1 win over SuperSport United in the DStv Premiership clash at Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday.

Baxter, though, had to substitute double-goalscorer Parker after 71 minutes, while Billiat came off in injury time, with both potentially adding onto the club’s treatment table.

“Soon, I’ll be telling you it’s quicker to count the fit players than the injured players,” he told SuperSport TV.

“I think the closest is Dumi (Zuma) and Leo Castro, they’re in full training but they’ve got to get themselves match fit, so we are waiting for them.

“We don’t know about Bernard since it’s a bit of a hamstring. Khama shouldn’t be too bad. We took him off as a precaution and to get some fresh legs on.

“So I think the lads put their bodies on the line, so they may get injured, and we will take that as a group, and we will moan and groan about it, we will get on with it.”

Baxter also insisted that Chiefs are getting better but must not get carried away despite their two recent wins.

“We’re happy without getting carried away. The first half shows that we’ve got a long way to go before The Real McCoy,” he added.

“We are very good, at times, when we do the job properly, (but) we switch off too often, we lost our concentration, we lose our belief a little bit.

“We’ve got to get rid of that but we’re slowly getting rid of it and the results are showing it now. So the fellas keep going, win, lose or draw, I’ll back them.”

Chiefs now have an eight-day gap until they will face Stellenbosch FC in their next DStv Premiership game.
