Benni Confident Of Securing CAFCL

AmaZulu head coach Benni McCarthy says he wants to hand Swallows their second loss of the season and qualify for CAF Champions League football.

Usuthu are second in the DStv Premiership, while Swallows are fifth having drawn 19 of their 28 leagues so far.

With McCarthy’s team now just one win away from securing second place, he says they’ll be eager to get the victory that ensures them qualification for the CAF Champions league.

“Yes, they’re a difficult team to beat, not an impossible team,” McCarthy told the club’s media department.

“And I think we’ve showed so much against so many good teams in the league. And ja, we know the task is not very easy, but I think as much as they’ve got to play, we’ve got the world at our feet at the moment because we probably the best team that can secure Champions League places.

“And what a huge honour it will be for the club. So that’s why I think we’ve got everything to gain from this game.

“And like I said, they’re a team that’s only lost once in the league and 19 draws. So, we want to be that second team that gives them a defeat to their name. And it is possible because the quality that we have in the team, the quality of the players, the squad, the depth, it’s all there, and we are home, so that will play to our advantage.

“And our home games, we’ve been pretty lethal and we’ve made it a fortress. So hopefully, we can do the same, the way we were before the Baroka game, we can have that mentality.

“We were in lion’s mode. And hopefully we can go come Wednesday, we’ll switch back onto lion’s mode and then ja, we’ll be okay.”
