Benni – It Had Drama, It Had Everything

AmaZulu Head Coach Benni McCarthy was delighted after his team’s 4-3 win over Bloemfontein Celtic on Tuesday night.

McCarthy was thrilled to pick up a third successive win, and especially in the dramatic way they did.

Tapelo Xoki scored a fantastic free kick in stoppage time to secure the result, after Celtic had fought back from 3-1 down to level the game at 3-3 at the end of the 90 minutes.

“Tuesday [night], to get the game that we just witnessed, it’s been interesting, it’s been exciting, it had drama, it had everything,” McCarthy said after the win.

“I an just overly happy that we managed to come away with all three points, because we deserved it. From the first game that we played them, when we got a draw, and today we showed just a little more grit and we scored more goals, so fantastic.”

“But what a great team to play against, Bloem Celtic, they’re very open, they’re very attack-minded so they make you play your football. You go at them, and they also come at you, and if your defence is not watertight, you end up conceding and we conceded three goals, something that we want to work on and we want to get better because if we are to challenge the bigger teams, we can’t concede three goals the way that we did, after cruising in the match.”
