TS Galaxy midfielder Ethan Brooks says he is happy to be part of the Bafana Bafana squad to take part in next month’s World Cup qualifiers, and was delighted Hugo Broos recognised the work he and seven teammates put in at the recent Cosafa Cup tournament.
Brooks was included in Broos’s final 23 man squad, as was confirmed on Tuesday.
Brooks is delighted to make the grade, and says it’s important to go into these qualifiers with a positive mindset.
“I feel really honoured to be able to part of the final 23 man squad for Bafana that would be competing in the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar,” Brooks told his club’s media department.
“Bafana hasn’t qualified for the World Cup since 2002. It would be really key for us going into these two matches with a positive mindset. And we should start on a good, good note against these two teams.
“The players that have won the Cosafa now recently, do I feel like it would help us going into the qualifiers, I mean, yes, some of us have played together, some of us have been a part in that Uganda squad so it’s not a very new squad, but it’s a team that we can come together and gel well together.
“So with the guys from Cosafa and most of the guys that were in the friendly against Uganda, it’s not a new team, not new faces, not a lot of new faces, but it should help going into these qualifiers.”
