Teboho Mokoena is a wanted man, with both Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns interested in his services but he is keen on moving overseas.
The 24-year-old was one of the three goalscorer for South Africa at the Olympics and his club SuperSport United wanted to wait until after the tournament before making a decision on his future.
His agent Glyn Blinkin has now confirmed that Chiefs and Downs are interested in the midfielder, but also insisted the player would prefer a move overseas.
“There’s obviously interest from local clubs, obviously, Chiefs, Sundowns have expressed interest,” Blinkin told iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu.
“But I think he would like to first go overseas, I think that will be his priority. And that’s what we focus on for now.
“We will consider the local options, they will always be there, I believe because he’ll always be a good player. But he wants to be able to test himself at a higher level.”
Mokoena’s agent also believes that SuperSport might even accept a lower offer from international clubs, if they can include a decent sell-on percentage.
“But to be honest, SuperSport also will be sensible in terms of Teboho, they will ideally like him to go overseas,” he added.
“So if it means they will be accepting less potentially now, but with a bigger up-sell in the future, I’m sure that they would consider that.”
