Khanye Picks Chiefs XI, Includes 6 Signings
Former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has revealed his Amakhosi starting XI for the new season, including six new signings.
The 36-year-old iDiskiTV analyst has never minced his words about his former club and this time he has picked his Chiefs XI for the 2021/22 campaign based on players currently in the squad.
With the Glamour Boys in the middle of a serious squad overhaul, Chiefs have already brought nine new players to Naturena.
Cole Alexander and Keagan Dolly were the latest new arrivals, following Brandon Petersen, Sifiso Hlanti, Phathutshedzo Nange, Njabulo Ngcobo, Sibusiso Mabiliso, Kgaogelo Sekgota and Austin Dube.
Amakhosi announced new contract extensions for Itumeleng Khune, Lebogang Manyama, Khama Billiat, Bernard Parker and Ramahlwe Mphahlele, but only two of those ended up in Khanye’s XI.
He picked Itumeleng Khune in goal, while Khama Billiat is one of his two forwards. Khanye set up his team in a 4-4-2 formation and included three new players in defense.
Reeve Frosler is joined by Njabulo Ngcobo, Austin Dube and Sibusiso Mabiliso. In midfield, Cole Alexander and Nkosingiphile Ngcobo form Khanye’s central pairing while Kgaogelo Sekgota and Keagan Dolly would fill the wide positions.
Upfront, Billiat is joined by Leonardo Castro.
Interestingly, Khanye did not pick Samir Nurkovic, who is a target of Pitso Mosimane’s Al Ahly. You can read all details about Mosimane’s chase of Nurkovic in this week’s iDiski Times news paper.
