Baloyi Makes Chiefs-Zungu Claim

Kaizer Chiefs legend Brian Baloyi believes Amakhosi should’ve signed Bongani Zungu who recently joined AmaZulu FC.

Baloyi came through Chiefs development in the early 1990s and he played over 350 games for Chiefs since making his first-team debut in 1993, as well as collecting 20 caps for Bafana Bafana.

He left Amakhosi for Mamelodi Sundowns in 2004 and spent six years at Chloorkop before he retired.

Chiefs are going through a difficult patch and head coach Nasreddine Nabi has been pleading with the club’s management to strengthen the squad.

Amakhosi had been linked with Zungu, but Usuthu snatched Zungu alongside Sandile Mthethwa, who were both free agents.

“I’ve said it in the last six months that I’m a big fan of Bongani [Zungu], I believe that’s the type of player that Chiefs should’ve signed,” Baloyi said told Andile Ncube on Metro FM.

“But I don’t know what they thinking but these are types of players that when you look at the young players you need to blend experience with youth.

“A lot of those young players they can learn a lot from Bongani, not only that but there’s a still a lot that he can give.”
