Dladla – They Decided Not To Follow The Instructions

Swallows acting coach Simo Dladla says he will need to sit down with the players after their 4-0 loss to Cape Town City in the MTN8 semi-finals on Wednesday, to find out why the players stopped following instructions on the field.

After a fairly even first half, where City had scored a late goal to take the lead into the break, the visitors added three more in the second half to book their place in next month’s final.

Dladla, who is the acting coach of the team with Brandon Truter on ‘special leave’, could not put his finger on what went wrong.

“I will definitely sit with the players and then try and unpack this performance,” Dladla said in the post match press conference.

“Because I think there is a problem that we need to put on the table and discuss and maybe find solutions because I don’t really think it was because these guys are unable to do the business.

“They are able to do the business but something just kicked in their manner, they decided not to follow the instructions anymore.

“Because we didn’t take anyone from the defence, we had the numbers, we had everything, but the decision making, we were not pressing them anymore.

“We were not competing anymore. And I don’t know why, I think it can only be mental.”
