Domingo Ready To Take Form Into Tshwane Derby

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Haashim Domingo is aiming to continue building his fitness after his Man of the Match display ahead of the Tshwane Derby on Wednesday.

Domingo, 26, is developing into an internal part of the new-look Sundowns line-up with consistent displays alongside the likes of Andile Jali and Themba Zwane in midfield.

Always available to receive a pass and showing the knack for breaking the lines with his crisp passing, the technically gifted midfielder earned the plaudits despite his side dropping points in the 0-0 draw against Cape Town City.

However, the former Ajax Cape Town and Vitoria Guimaraes man is aiming to build on the performance when they face SuperSport United this week.

“I just want to continue where I left off in terms of fitness, I can build on that and definitely the confidence going into the next [game],” he said ahead of the game.

“It’s important that we get the result against Cape Town City but with SuperSport we need to get three points.”

Domingo says the squad is aware of the threat Matsatsansa pose, as they lay in fourth place, eight points behind the league leaders – who have yet to concede a goal in their opening 10 games.

“I’m expecting a direct performance in terms of long-ball and playing on the second ball so we need to stay tight, pick up the second ball and establish play from there.

“I think the midfield will be key, [Teboho] Mokoena, [Sipho] Mbule, the creative players and then [Thamsanqa] Gabuza and [Bradley] Grobler with their aerial presence upfront will be key for them.

“We taking it day by day, we analysed SuperSport and we know what they coming to bring to the party and we need to come up with the solutions, that’s what we working towards.”

Masandawana host their cross-town rivals at Loftus Versveld on Wednesday afternoon (17h30).
