Chippa United head coach Gavin Hunt has explained why Phakamani Mahlambi did not play in their first two DStv Premiership games.
The coach also discussed the reason behind the absence of Rodney Ramagalela after the former Black Leopards’ captain hasn’t played any match since he joined the club.
Chippa United won 1-0 in their DStv Premiership opener against Sekhukhune United, and played to a goalless draw with Mamelodi Sundowns before they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Royal AM on the weekend.
Mahlambi joined the Chilli Boys on loan from Sundowns, while Ramagalela joined from the relegated Black Leopards.
“Rodney was injured two weeks before the start, Phakamani wasn’t here for the first game and couldn’t play against Sundowns obviously because of the ruling,” Hunt told iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu in an exclusive interview.
“Well, yeah a lot of the new players haven’t played, Rodney, Phakamani, Benny, Sandile; it’s quite a few of them that haven’t even played.
“They certainly will add a lot of value to the squad and certainly coming to recovery, but there’s certainly four Players who haven’t played at all.”
Mahlambi joined Chippa after spending last season on loan at AmaZulu, where he only made three appearances in 2020/21.
