Komphela Picks Between Messi & Ronaldo

Mamelodi Sundowns first-team coach Steve Komphela has joined the long-standing debate between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo.

The 54-year-old who joined Masandawana’s technical team last season is seemingly also enjoying international football.

On Wednesday, Komphela was asked to pick between Messi and Ronaldo, and, although trying to stay diplomatic, he explained why his personal preference leans towards the latter.

“Messi’s talent amazing. CR7 professional ethics on steroid,” Komphela wrote.

“I enjoy both but more sympathy to CR7 because he works towards it. Leo is gifted and uses the gift.”

Komphela was also inspired by Ronaldo’s goals on his second Manchester United debut against Newcastle United on Saturday, praising the new Red Devils’ superstar.

The Downs coach was also asked which English team he prefers in terms of playing style, picking Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City before revealing he shocked he was about the state of FC Barcelona following their 3-0 home defeat to Bayern Munich.

“I like Man City after you fired AW from Arsenal. I was just shocked by my FC Barcelona last night. I was shocked. Never saw Barca defend the box. I hope you understand,” he said.
