Jali Reveals Royal AM Danger Men

Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali has revealed why the Royal AM clash is important to them and who the danger men they are aiming to keep quiet.

Sundowns face the DStv Premiership newcomers for the first time in the league after they acquired the status of Bloemfontein Celtic before the start of the 2021/22 campaign.

Under the management of John Maduka, the KZN-based club has performed beyond expectations as they sit in third place – while a win over Sundowns could put them into second and six points off the league leaders.

But Jali says they are ready to bring them back down to earth to reaffirm their status as the leading club in South Africa after drawing three games in their last four league encounters.

“We’ve been waiting for this game, we know this game is more important to us [because] we just lost two points to Stellenbosch,” Jali said ahead of the game.

“Coming into this game, we’re motivated and everyone is willing to fight. We expect much [from Royal AM] we know what they are capable of, we know what they’re coming to do. And we prepared for them, they can come, it’s okay.

“We know they want to do their best because we saw when they played against other teams. We don’t need to motivate them, they know they coming to play Sundowns, everyone wants to prove they can play football against Sundowns.”

On who might give them problems when they face off this afternoon he singled out two highly experienced players in their set-up as they look to widen the gap at the top of the table.

“Victor Letsoalo has been scoring, we have to be careful with their speed going forward, we know [Kabelo] Mahlasela, in the middle, he’s a good player – we need to take care of them.

“It’s a good thing we want to win and achieve everything here in the PSL, so for us, this one is a good game that is going to [allow] us to open the gap.”

Sundowns meet Royal AM in the top of the table clash at Loftus Versveld this afternoon at 15h30.
