Maritzburg United assistant coach Maahier Davids says past results don’t guarantee points, and despite losing their last game, he is confident going into their match against in-form Royal AM.
The two teams will meet on Sunday at the Chatsworth Stadium in a DStv Premiership KZN derby.
Maritzburg lost to SuperSport United in their last game, and are currently ninth on the table, while Royal AM, after three successive wins, are fourth.
Davids says that losing late to SuperSport was disappointing, having gone into the match on the back of two wins in a row, but he says they are still feeling positive about their progression
“Ja, we have to focus on the next game,” Davids told the club’s media department.
“Last week it was two wins in a row, and getting a late winner and then going into the next game with that, it doesn’t guarantee you points, same going into Royal AM game now.
“We lost, yes last minute, it doesn’t mean we not going in confident into the next game.
“We have to take the positives, we still on a good way, we are getting better with each game, proof is in the performance. And let’s hope we can continue that performance. Getting one or two guys back, and then we will see.”
With Royal AM winning their last three games, Davids says they’re the team to beat.
“Ja, they scored eight goals in two games, won three in a row,” he continued.
“Ja, they the team to beat hey? So it’s up to us. We know our quality, we have to really trust ourselves and really live our principles, that we train every day, from the attacking side, from the defensive side, and really believe in it and really continue on that process.
“Because if you continue with that, I believe we will get a positive result.”
