Mbesuma Signs For Callies
GladAfrica Championship side Pretoria Callies have confirmed the signing of Collins Mbesuma. Lethabo Kganyago reports.
Club spokesperson Doctor Maphalle would not say how long the former Kaizer Chiefs, Black Aces and Maccabi striker has signed for.
“That one I cannot confirm it, but that he is part of the coach’s plans for the season,” said Maphalle.
iDiski Times sources say the Zambian will be at the club for a year.
Meanwhile Mbesuma is not the only new face in Callies preseason camp. Another former Chiefs man Edward Manqele has also signed for the club and so has Edmore Chirambadare.
The duo are said to have also signed year long contracts.
Callies are in Limpopo for the week and have played friendlies with Marumo Gallants and Baroka FC so far, with another against Black Leopards and Venda Football Academy to follow.
Maphalle says they prioritised experience for the upcoming term as they struggled with getting goals last season.
“If you really followed us the passt season, you could realise we were not scoring much goals that could tell we needed more experience particularly upfront so we can have better direction into this season,” added Maphalle.
They finished eighth in the Championship last season and reached the semifinals of the Nedbank Cup.
