Minister of Sports, Arts and Culture Nathi Mthethwa has urged the nation to rally behind Mamelodi Sundowns President, Dr. Patrice Motsepe, on his quest to become African football’s most powerful man.
The Sundowns President has joined the race to become CAF President as the March 2021 elections draw close. Current CAF President Ahmad Ahmad is going through difficulties at present, and could have criminal charges laid against him in the coming weeks due to allegations of malpractice, amongst other things.
Speaking at a press Conference earlier today, Minister Nathi Mthethwa said:
“Going forward, we want to see football getting stable and characterised by integrity; we believe that Dr Motsepe represents that. We have seen Motsepe showing a sense of patriotism through his actions in football.
“It’s important for all South Africans to support this move by SAFA. Thanks SAFA for identifying someone who is capable.”
