ODG – It’s Been A Very Fruitful Journey

TS Galaxy head coach Owen Da Gama says the club has learnt a lot of things, and can build on their performance next season in the DStv Premiership.

Galaxy finished 9th on the log with 35 points after 30 matches and Da Gama said it’s been a good foundation season for the club, their first in the DStv Premiership.

Da Gama also singled out Ethan Brooks’ meteoric rise, after the teenager’s good performance for the club saw him earn his first Bafana Bafana cap on Thursday in the 3-2 win over Uganda.

“It’s been a very fruitful journey for me to understand and learn the strength of the players,” Da Gama said on the club’s website.

“As a technical team, we are their fathers. We are their mentors. We are their teachers. At the end of the day, they are our children when they come to training. We’ve tried our best to get into their minds. We’ve tried to understand their challenges.”

“We’ve learned quite a few things. Ethan Brooks was nowhere in the picture when we started. He then went to the MDC team. He went to the MDC team and performed beyond expectations. This is a player with a pedigree. He has been to the junior national team. It was nice to see him stepping up and playing.”
