Pule On Chiefs Links Before He Joined Pirates
Vincent Pule has opened up on reports stating he had signed a pre-contract with Kaizer Chiefs before he ended up joining Amakhosi’s rivals Orlando Pirates.
The 29-year-old winger has come of age this season, scoring eight goals for the Buccaneers across all competitions, already bettering his returns from 2019/20 and on track to beat his personal best from 2018/19 when he netted nine times.
Pule spoke to iDiski Times senior writer Velile Mnyandu about a wide range of topics, among them reports stating he would join the Glamour Boys back in 2018.
“It was just rumours. It was just rumours,” he said with a smirk.
“I had to keep quiet and focus on my game.
“That time I was not with any team, so I had to focus on my game because if you concentrate on those things your game will drop and I just focused on my game.”
Pule also revealed how he eventually ended up at Pirates and which role his grandfather played in the move.
“You know my agent at that time said, ‘I think it s a good move for you’,” he explained.
“That time I checked even age wise, I had to take that move and challenge myself to play in a bigger team.
“My grandfather was a big supporter of Pirates, so it was not that difficult to choose them.”
You can read the full exclusive interview, where Pule also chats about what he learned from Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic and Rulani Mokwena, which PSL players were his childhood heroes as well as his overseas ambitions, in this week’s iDiski Times – available in English and Zulu.
