Cape Town City head coach Eric Tinkler was pleased overall after Friday’s goalless draw against Swallows, and says it’s a good result ahead of this week’s MTN8 semi-final second leg against the same opponent.
City will face Swallows at Dobsonville Stadium on Wednesday, with the tie level at 0-0 after the first leg.
Tinkler was pleased how his team responded after their 3-0 loss to Stellenbosch in their previous DStv Premiership match, and says that psychologically it bodes well for them going forward.
“Ja, I thought tonight was a very, very good performance defensively from us,” Tinkler said after Friday’s match.
“Obviously there was that concern after the game against Stellenbosch, the morale, the confidence and I think psychologically tonight, getting the point against Swallows, it was a very, very important point, going forward for the upcoming games, obviously the semi final and then obviously, also the game against Orlando Pirates.
“So I’m happy with the point, but I think at the same time we controlled the match, I thought we had the better chances, and possibly deserved to come away here with three points.
“But far, far better performance from the team overall.
“And I’m very, very proud of them, because it was important for us to bounce back with a positive result against Swallows, and I think we’ve done that.”
