Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies have parted ways with head coach Kwanele Kopo.
After finishing 2022/23 season in a dramatic way, following a 4-0 defeat against Polokwane City, which helped Rise and Shine gain direct promotion, Callies didn’t start the 2023/24 campaign well.
The Pretoria-based side played seven draws and lost three matches in their 10 games of the season which left them sitting at the bottom of the table with seven points.
The romans remain the only side yet to register a win in Motsepe Foundation Championship this season, and have now reacted with a coaching switch.
Callies also lost their key players in Oswin Appollis, who went to join Polokwane City in the topflight, and Siyabonga ‘Chicco’ Dubula who joined JDR Stars.
This publication has learnt that Callies parted ways with Kopo and the sacking is understood to be based on results.
Former Baroka head coach Bushy Moloi is rumored as the leading candidate to take over at the club. Moloi recently led Tshwane University of Technology to the Varsity Cup title.
Callies will face struggling Daine Klate’s side, NB La Masia on Sunday afternoon in a home match as the hunt for their first win continues.
