Wydad Athletic Club loanee Cassius Mailula has dedicated his Player of the Month award to his teammates and coaches after another stellar performance.
Since sealing a season-long loan deal to the Red Castle from Major League Soccer side Toronto FC, the former Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has been on song for Rulani Mokwena’s charges.
Mailula was named the January Player of the Month after scoring one goal and providing one assist in three games.
The 23-year-old is currently sitting on eight goal contributions in all competitions, three goals and five assists and is also the leading player at Wydad with the most assists.
“It’s an honour to receive this award, it shows that hard work does actually pay,” Mailula said.
“I’ve been working very hard, I’ve been listening to the coaches, to my teammates, they’ve been helping me to do well.

“I think this is for the team actually, it shows how important it is to listen to your teammates. When I do that, you see from the results.”
He capped off another impressive showing on Sunday by scoring the opener as they hammered SC Chabab Mohammedia 5-1 to move into second place in the Botolo Pro.
