FCSB defender Siyabonga Ngezana has opened up on the reported interest from Ligue 1 side FC Lorient ahead of the January transfer window.
The 26-year-old has been subject of interest from the French top-flight side in recent weeks after an incredible debut campaign with the Superliga giants.
Since breaking into the first eleven after an injury to national team captain and club legend Vlad Chiricheș, he’s started 14 out of a possible 16 games.
And his performances have earned rave reviews as well as a place in the preliminary 50-man Africa Cup of Nations squad, while club President Gigi Becali has stated his valuation has increased by over 100% since his move from Kaizer Chiefs.
“Um, to be quite honest, it’s speculation from the media, nobody spoke to me about a move but the websites, the President of the team [talking], it means there’s something, there’s no smoke without fire,” Ngezana tells iDiski Times.
So there’s something but I don’t want to try and dwell on it, I just want to finish the games by Christmas, I want to finish on a high, that’s what I’m focusing on. About the move and links to France, until there’s something solid – for now, I have nothing to comment about it.”
Ngezana will be aiming to help extend their eight-point lead at the summit of the table this evening when they take on ACSM Politehnica Iasi at 20h30 this evening.
You can read the full exclusive interview with Ngezana, where he also opens up about his Kaizer Chiefs regret, overcoming initial struggles in Romania, social media boo boys and completely changing his routine in Europe, in this week’s iDiski Times newspaper, edition 135.
