Official: Mere Lands New Club

TS Galaxy have confirmed the signing of veteran full-back Vuyo Mere after his exit from DStv Premiership rivals Swallows.

The 37-year-old announced his exit from the Dube Birds on Thursday after two and half years at the club but insisted he will continue playing professional football.

Galaxy have since moved swiftly to snap him up on an 18-month contract to bolster their defensive options as they look to retain their status in the South African top-flight.

“We are quite delighted to have secured a player of Vuyo’s calibre. I have always regarded him as a ‘Dani Alves’ of South African football,” chairman Tim Sukazi said.

“He is a born leader who has a lot of knowledge to impart amongst our young crop of players. He certainly still has a lot to contribute in the field of play despite his many years in the game.”
