Former Pirates Coach Into CAFCC Quarters

South African tactician Fadlu Davids made history for himself after qualifying Simba SC into the CAF Confederation Cup quarterfinals in his debut season at Estádio 11 de Novembro in Luanda on Sunday evening.

Davids, 43, took over the hot seat at the beginning of the current campaign and has brought livewire to the side as they’ve emerged as serious title contenders.

Simba curently top the NBC Premier League in Tanzania with 13 wins from 15 outings, having lost and drew one, and lead rivals Young Africans by one point (40).

The Tanzanian giants needed just a point to seal passage to the last eight and had to rally back from a goal down after South African striker Keoikantse Mosiatlhaga gave Bravos do Maquis a 13th-minute lead.

Davids’ charges hit back in the 69th minute through Leonel Ateba and kept Maquis at bay to pick up the all-important point on the road.

Despite them currently occupying second spot behind Constantine, Simba qualified for the last eight by virtue of a superior goal difference over Maquis.
