Chiefs Snap Up Mdantsane In R3.5m Transfer

Kaizer Chiefs have signed Cape Town City midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane in a deal worth around R3.5 million.

The 28-year-old returns to the club he once represented during his development days and pens a three-year contract after emerging into one of the leading performers in the league.

His contract was due to expire at the end of this month but City activated a one-year option before Chiefs came knocking and the two clubs agreed on a fee.

While his form declined somewhat in the season that passed due to increased competition for places in the team and potentially seeking a new challenge for his career, the former Baroka playmaker was central to the Citizens in recent seasons.

And with Amakhosi notably lacking a composed figure in the final third over the past season, the diminutive playmaker was identified as a key target for the upcoming season.

Mdantsane netted 21 goals and registered seven assists in 109 games during his three seasons in the Mother City ahead of his return switch to the Soweto giants.

He becomes the club’s second signing ahead of the 2023/24 campaign after they already announced the arrival of highly-rated defender Thatayaone Ditlhokwe on a pre-contract from Supersport United, while Given Msimango is also understood to have agreed to join Amakhosi.
