Kaizer Chiefs Sporting Director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has revealed that Siyabonga Ngezana felt he wanted to take up a new challenge after joining Romanian giants FCSB.
Ngezana, 25, will join the 26-time Liga 1 winners seven years after breaking into the senior team at Naturena.
He joins the club, formerly known as Steaua Bucharesti for an undisclosed fee, becoming the second Chiefs academy product to move overseas in the last six month.
“There is always a tinge of sadness when a player who has risen through the ranks here leaves the Club,” Kaizer Jr. told the club’s media team.
“However, Siya has had a good and substantial career at Kaizer Chiefs and feels the time is right to take up a new challenge.
“We appreciate his wholehearted commitment to Amakhosi and wish him well on his exciting adventure to Europe.”
Ngezana made 123 appearances for Chiefs since making his debut in a 3-0 win over AmaZulu in the Telkom Knockout Cup in October 2017.
He featured 23 times under Arthur Zwane during the 2022/23 campaign and will now feature in the UEFA Conference League with his new club.
