Castro Opens Up On Chiefs Return

Kaizer Chiefs striker Leonardo Castro says he is delighted to be back after a long groin injury that saw him sidelined and even spent some time in his home country, Colombia.

The Colombian came on as a late substitute during Chiefs’ 1-0 win over Maritzburg United in the DStv Premiership encounter at Harry Gwala Stadium on Sunday evening.

As he is now fit, the 32-year-old is confident that he will contribute in the scoring department in the upcoming games for Amakhosi.

“It feels great to be back on the field,” he told club’s media department.

“I was missing my teammates and being on the field, it was a tough time because the worst part of the injury was the recovery.

“I kept my patience and needed to be mentally strong in order to get back into the team as soon as possible. Now, I’ve managed to get back, and I want to continue to work hard and improve my game every day.

“We have a strong squad. Almost all the players are available for selection, which is a good point for us. With these games coming in the week and on the weekend, we are going to need everybody.”

The Glamour Boys welcome AmaZulu at 17:30 at the FNB Stadium on Wednesday in their next league encounter.
