Chiefs Grab Late Draw

Keagan Dolly scored a controversial late penalty to cancel out Luvoyo Memela’s first goal of the season, as AmaZulu and Kaizer Chiefs drew 1-1 at Kings Park Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Sekhukhune United beat TS Galaxy, while Chippa United and SuperSport United played to a draw.

Dolly tried an ambitious shot in the 8th minute, but his attempt went wide.

Dolly went close again in the 23rd minute, this time his effort on target but Veli Mothwa made a good save to deny Chiefs the opener. Three minutes later Cole Alexander was on target with his first-time effort, but it lacked power and went straight to Mothwa.

Luvuyo Memela’s shot in the 27th minute looked on target, but Austin Dube made a good defensive block. A minute later Daniel Akpeyi did well to save Sandile Khumalo’s shot.

Another good chance fell to Chiefs in the 36th minute, but once again Mothwa was on hand as he denied Bernard Parker from close range. Three minutes later Mothwa made a great save to deny Khama Billiat’s effort from just outside the box.

At halftime it remained goalless, but it took only three minutes in the second half for the opening goal to come, and it was the home team who took the lead. Memela was set up by by an excellent headed pass from Keagan Buchanan, and he ran into the box and neatly finished past Akpeyi.

Akpeyi did well to deny Memela a second in the 55th minute, with a good save from close range, and a minute later had to save again, this time from Thabo Qalinge.

Reeve Frosler’s effort on the hour mark went wide of goal, while Mothwa saved from a Parker header a minute later. Buchanan’s effort in the 72nd minute was always going over, while at the other end Mothwa saved from Njabulo Blom in the 78th minute, and again from Dolly in the 86th minute.

Chiefs were awarded a controversial penalty in stoppage time, after an alleged handball. Dolly stepped up to to take it and made no mistake, scoring into the corner.

AmaZulu were livid and surrounded referee Jelly Chavani at the end of game, as the match ended in a controversial draw.

TS Galaxy 0-1 Sekhukhune United

Meanwhile at the Mbombela Stadium TS Galaxy in the first game after Owen Da Gama was sacked, lost 1-0 Sekhukhune United.Pogiso Mahlangu scored for the visitors, giving them the lead in the 79th minute, as he blasted in from the left of goal.

Chippa United 0–0 SuperSport United

And Chippa United and SuperSport United played to a goalless draw at the Sisa Dukashe Stadium, as the visitors missed a penalty. SuperSport were awarded the spot kick with ten minutes to go after Teboho Mokoena was brought down, but Sipho Mbule missed the chance, as he shot wide.
