Hunt – Chippa Made Some Signings Already

Chippa United head coach Gavin Hunt says the club have signed a few players already but are yet to announce their new players.

Hunt and his team have spent the past week in the Western Cape, playing friendlies against all four professional teams in the province.

The new Chippa coach confirmed that his side have made signings already but are yet to announce the new names.

“We made two or three signings already, so those will be announced in due course,” Hunt said from the pre-season camp.

“But as I said, once we nail down the core of the players, we can certainly work on on certain things we try to do and trying to implement, a little bit more than we have in the last two and a half weeks.”

Hunt also explained that he has focussed on getting his new side’s fitness levels up and will now look to focus more on tactics in the coming weeks.

“Well, you know, it’s been a bit of… we’ve tried to to get the fitness levels up, obviously, which is a pre-season and obviously looking at a few combinations as well,” he added.

“So it’s been a bit of a mixture, it’s not really too much about the tactical side. And we need to really work on that in the next three weeks, that’s for sure.

“It’s not about the style of football, there’s no style of play, football is football.

“I think there’s a lot of ability (in the squad). We need to, I think, the game intelligence is certainly something we need to work on.

“Now, game intelligence, obviously, is quite wide, you know, we need to get a little bit cleverer, how we play the game. And we got to have one or two ways of doing things, I think that’s what I’ve seen with the current crop of players.

“We’ve obviously got quite a few trialists here, it is quite unique a little bit, but something that I’m used to and something that I was expecting.”
